Not trying to start a flame war but I would like your input. Thunderbird seams nice and I am thinking of switching from outlook.

I like it much more than outlook. It feels less bloated and seems to use fewer resources (not that either really uses that much). I just like the look and feel of Thunderbird more.

I like the junk mail filters in Thunderbird, and the security features.

However, I like Outlook Express' newsreader better than Thunderbird's. I haven't figured out how to hide news posts from blocked senders in Thunderbird's news reader yet.

Outlook, MAYBE. Outlook Express, over my cold, decaying corpse.

Thunderbird. Also available on other platforms (e.g. Mac), so you can switch platforms without losing your mail (or having to do a long and painful export/import dance).

Yeah I decided to stick with thunderbird. There are nice options, and with extensions there sint much outlook could do that thunderbird couldnt. Plus the thunderbird interface feels less bloated.

I really like it.
It's much less obstrusive, and the fact you can add extentions (like minimize to tray) really make it my choise many times over MS Outlook.

Ive found that Thunderbird is a better app as far as abilities.
But Ive had issues with the 1000s of emails i get daily. Thunderbird ended up giving up and only downloading 1 email at a time and then erroring. I had to switch to Outlook 2003 which does fine with mass emails.

So if you dont get a lot of emails, go with Thunderbird :)
