OK, I know this one's quite common here on the forums, but I finally just tried Edge Bevel, and I'd have to agree it's not that great of a tool. In fact, I'm not sure why you'd use it on edges instead of polygons - it doesn't seem to make much difference.

I've seen this a few times before, but it's pretty bad, and I don't think I'd said anything about it yet. So that's my opinion of Edge Bevel - close to worthless.

Sad and way to true. LW9 is missing a really good edge bevel. I'm hoping we see one sometime before 9.5. I sure could use it right now.

How about a generic bevel tool that just bevels whatever you have selected. Have a edge selected, the edge gets beveled. Have a point selected, well you get my drift. One tool for all the beveling. On a side note, Multishift now includes a "Group Polygon" option!

There is such tool and is called Wrinkle http://wrinkle.trueart.pl
You can define side view of newly made geometry in preset editor and save it for later use and then make eyes, lips, veins using the same settings as made months ago in the completely different project..

You mean three tools that bevel points, edges, and polygons, and then a forth tool that detects which selection mode you're in and sends it to one of these tools? ;)

Like modo where you call the bevel tool with the same shortcut or button whatever mode (poly, pt, edge) you are working on.

I was trying to point out that modo has 3 different tools for beveling, and then a forth that detects your selection mode and then uses the appropriate bevel tool.

try this one:

when you're already there, try

Agreed - That would save allot of Tool searching or uneeded clicks. Simply perform the action on whats selected. Whether that be an edge, poly, or point. How much time would that save?

you could always use the bevel shader rather than actual beveled polys..
