After playing around with it for 4 hours straight I'm all excited about the new node editor. This thing rocks! I skimmed through the surface and render manual and then just started trying things. I couldn't stop playing around with it!

Yep, very true. We should see some great improvements...

I just hope they implement node groups. Complex nodes could be organized much better if certain chunks could be grouped into a single expandable node. This would also make "fake" node creation easier.

I would also really like to see some sort of "global" node space. Some sort of shared area in a scene (saved with a scene perhaps) that any surface or any object or anything at all could access. This way you could have a global network of nodes that drive many objects/surfaces at once. There has to be some way to have nodes connected to different objects/surfaces...
