View Full Version : Help with lip syncing!

I've not done a lot of animation in LW, but I am hoping I can get to grips with lip syncrhonization fairly quickly.

Is there an open source plugin I can use with LW for lip sync, and also, what would be the easiest and most cost effective method to achieve basic lip syncing?

Are there tutorials for lip sync? URL's are welcome.

Thanks all!

There's a free lip sync plugin where you assign morphs to sounds and then you can add words to a time line (like a non linear editor) and play with them to get it right. The URL seems to have disappeared, but contact me if you're interested.

OR you could go for Daz mimic for lightwave which is $149.98 at the moment, but automates a lot of the process for you...

I've heard of "Lip Service" by Rob Powers, but I don't think its available anymore. Maybe that's the lip syncher you are referring to Dodgy.

Just a thought, is it at all possible to lip sync in Lightwave without any plugins at all? Can anyone recommend a tutorial?

Thanks mjcrawford. I appreciate your link!!!

I think I understand the theory sort of. I have it as follows:
1. Model character
2. Create morph maps in Modeller basic phonemes
3. Load in Layout
4. Import audio file for reference
5. Use motion mixer to match proper phonemes to audio file
6. Render
7. Composite the audio with the video in After Effects

Hope I have the basics right!!!
