View Full Version : Gamma Correction / Linear Color /w nodes

Howdy. I'm reading up on Gamma and trying to figure out a linear color workflow in LW9 in order to get better results.

I'm reading here as a starter:

In the article it mentions a formula for correcting colors picked from the RGB picker:

Corrected R = 255 * (uncorrected R / 255) ^ 2.2
Corrected G = 255 * (uncorrected G / 255) ^ 2.2
Corrected B = 255 * (uncorrected B / 255) ^ 2.2

I'm wondering if there is a way to create this correction in a node tree, or even in a single node so that I can pick colors intuitively, but then have them corrected automatically.

I'm still struggling to grasp the concepts in the article overall, so please advise if what I'm writing now doesn't even make sense.

If anyone else has thoughts on the matter in general, I'd love to hear them.

I did notice that the node editor has a gamma node. might this be suitable for the task?
