I've read someplace that the Safe areas in LightWave aren't "true" safe areas.

Is this true, and what do people do to "compensate"?

I've found the "Custom Field Chart" and "Custom Safe Area" plugin, but how many % is the action safe and title safe areas of the entire frame?

The safe area lines look about right on the top/bottom and sides, but should not have such rounded corners. You should be safe with rectangular areas based on the the lines in the centers of the sides and top/bottom shown in Lightwave's safe areas.

Perhaps they made it using a 1940s safe area chart instead of the 1989 one used by the TV industry.

I have never had any problems. Works for tv fine.

I have a small TV here beside me thats about 3 years old and has very rounded corners, it also loses about 1.5 cm of the picture around each side for some reason, so i think the rounded corners in lightwaves safe area chart are about right :)

Are you rendering at 720x480 or 720x486?
For TV I render at 720x480.
