View Full Version : Normal displacement.. Map?

Ok, I’ve got a character, who was previously a layered object, with different displacement settings for each layer. The displacement, is based off of a texture.

Now I want to flatten the layers, but I still need control of the normal displacement over its various parts.

I guess what I’m looking for is a “weight map” kind of thing for displacement maps. Can I do this?

With "Textured Point" you can "burn" a texture to points - as vertex color, weight map or morph map. Does this help?

Well, you could create various weight maps (one for each layer, so that the data on the layer is 100% and the data on the other layers is 0%) and use those as an alpha map on your displacement maps (on the merged object).
