dear wavers

you have various CPUs and i really like to learn your idea before purchasing 10- 20 Pc for in house rendering facility.

Which Cpu is more future proof and therefore ok to buy? Should we wait for new Intel's dual cores(conroes) or go with the current AMD's X2s...

Is there a really huge difference between dual cores and single chip in terms of network rendering?

Or should we get different Cpu's instead of one chip ? I read somewhere there are subtle difference between AMD - Intel renders. Is that info still reliable?

I hope you have time to share your real time experience?

for my experience amd is better and faster than intel (at same price).
i exclude xeon, be cause in our renderfarm have same speed of p4 at same speed, for lw engine, for combustion engine, for after effects engine.

I'd recommend leasing them if your cashflow can handle it.

We lease our machines, and the cost works out to be much the same as buying them outright, but spread over the term of the lease. However, I can upgrade them at anytime to the best the leasing company can provide me for the same price, so we upgrade every twelve months.
