Just got my current copy of "Post" late last week, looks like we're not far away. Nice job NT. Looks good, keep it up.

Cheers

That ad has been in the last two issues of Computer Graphics World, as well. I like it.

I just got an email from KURV with an ad saying v9 is already released, but nothing about it on the NewTek website or here yet?

Don't know where the information came from, but LightWave v9 HAS NOT been officially released yet.

I LOVE the new LW look. Very different and edgy...

Has anyone noticed how product colors follow trends? The last few years, everything was in shades of white and blue (modo, C4D, LW, Apple, etc). Now it seems manufacturers are trying to spice things up a bit more... Apple switched everything to black, NT has gone to red... I like more colors in our ads! For awhile EVERYthing was blue blue blue!!! :)

Ok. This makes thread number three. The information KURV Studios posted is incorrect. LightWave v9 HAS NOT been officially released yet.

Well, I have a large, post card type flyer (scan attached) that I received directly from Newtek via US Mail stating "LightWave v9 Now Shipping!. I take this to be an official notice from NewTek that LightWave 9 has been released.

You sure that wasn't a beta "LightWave v9 Now Shipping" notice, in which you'd be in violation of the NDA

I got the postcard on the fifth as well. Being as I "pre-upgraded" some time ago, and am at a point where installing the upgrade would be fortuitous, I'd like to know a real fullfillment date-at least within a week or so of actual time. While I want a "bug-free" version, there's a lot of complexity to scheduling the upgrade between production jobs.

I had expected they wouldn't leave the warehouse until after Siggraph anyway, but what with a "Now Shipping!" boldly emblazoned on the address side and directions to the website for more info, I suspect the torch and pitchfork crowd may be on their way to your door if this isn't addressed on the main page.

As it's about a three hour drive from here, I may be among the first. -R

The postcard did beat the release a bit. The printing and mailing moved a little faster than expected.

Anyway, the launch party has been announced for the 15th. Today is the 8th. I think you can take that as your one week estimate. :)

would be cool if that new box had a tshirt rolled up inside.. you guys think you have enough time to go get some silkscreened? for those of us that paid 1yr ago? not that we are not appreciative with the existing freebies.

I would surely love to see something like: "Massive improvements/innovations to character rigging and animation!!!" as one of those main bullet points but I guess we'll wait and see. (crossing fingers now)

Not being a character animator, I'm not familiar enough to know a good definition of "massive improvements", but yes, Jay Roth has stated that Character Animation will be one of the issues addressed during the v9.x cycle (i.e. before the next paid upgrade).

Please don't give me definitions. They wouldn't mean that much to me and I don't want to take this thread off on a tangent. :D

Give me patience, and I want it now.

All will be revealed in the fullness of time, or at least at the launch party. :D

Well hopefully on the website at the time of the launch party... since most of us can't make it. :D

I am still betting on a Wednesday announcement and online downloads!
I know the 14th is a magic number around here, but as a software developer, I know it is never a good idea to release software on a Friday or you will lose your weekend! A weekend release is even more insane. Release on Wednesday so the programmers and web guys can have a few days to work out the immediate kinks in the distribution process and then take a well deserved weekend off!
