View Full Version : Rigging Problem!

Here we go:

Why is it that my "ready to go" rigged object from work (LightWave version 8.5, VT4)) isn't appearing properly at home (LightWave version 6.5)?

It looked perfect at work yesterday!

It's a rigged dinosaur built with an internal skelegon of 64 bones and lots of weight maps

Is there a setting or conflict I don't know about?

All of my rigged nulls are in the correct place, but my object looks like a distorted mess.

I have attached the scene and it's components.

If you delete all the nulls, the object snaps back into correct shape.

Thanks, again!

LW 6.5 is going back far enough that its probably just not fully compatible.
You can try reresting all the bones and see if that works.
Also, IMO you have WAY too many things setup to be controlled with IK.
I would not have used IK on the arms or on all the toes. I doubt youll get all the control out of the tail with a simple IK chain like that.
I would also either ditch the weight maps or simplify them. So many weight maps will slow you rig down alot. :)

Good deal!

Thanks for the advice!

I've been kinda combining an old tutorial for rigging with my new models.

Guess I've playing it too safe!

I appreciate your time, and I'll reduce things a bit!
