View Full Version : How to do the 3cables.lws dynamic scene ?

06-20-2006, 01:25 AM

I have found a scene very interesting in my content cd : 3cables.lws
I would like to do the same thing, but I don't know how...
The problem is at the ends of the cables, how to parent the cable with the mecha-leg objects ? (the nulls Ends01 and Ends02 are here for that I suppose...)
I need help.
Many thanks.

Look at the scene in wire frame mode..
and check the properties for the dynamics..
and just click the forward button on the vid controls,
see it run thru the frames
it's the parenting and IK
pretty simple, u just have to watch it move
and look at how it is set up
there are a few other ways of doing the same thing
make a sketch on paper how it is set up..thats how I learned from that scene
Cool scene is'nt it..

Thanks Zapper,
but in my scene the dynamics property use the cloth module with a *.mdd file, the options are not available...
(idem in the 3cables_calculation.lws and 3cables_playback.lws)
My problem is : how to stick the end of the cables to the legs...

the to arms are parented
the cable are parented to the first arm
the nulls are placed were you want the cables and parented

look at the scene editor for parenting Hirarchy

you can also use bones to do the same thing without the Dynamics, actually using bones is easier way of doing it, Called a bone chain

Michael thanks for your message,

If you look the Scene Editor, The cables are no parented to another object (here is the problem).
I have the mdd file, but I would like to know the setup of the cloth options for the "3cables02" object (desactivated by the mdd file).
