where can i find 2d and 3d tools. i am trying to build my own video game and i need to know were to start. it would really help if they were free to.

If you also need a game engine, then you will need Blender (http://www.blender.org). It is a 3D modeling and animating program with a fully functional gaming engine. And the best part is that it is free!:thumbsup:

What do you mean by "2D & 3D tools"? Do you mean software like Photoshop (2D) and LightWave (3D)? If so, you buy them. You registered on these forums afterall. You must own or are using LW, aren't you?

For free stuff there's Gimp which is a Photoshop clone and there is Blender that does 3D which is popular amongst the poor. However, remember the old adage: "You get what you pay for". Free usually means hard to learn and somewhat crappy results.

And, in my experience, compared to LW (and other commercial apps) had crappy results. Thus my point. :)

I pretty much only use it for modding The Sims 2.
