Hello!

TrueArt has made and would like to show you the new plug-in called TrueLoad.

It's tool that could be used in both Modeler & Layout to show in the real-time OpenGL instant refreshed preview of 3d models that you wanna to load to scene or to modeler.

How do you like it?
Because it's enough space for both File and Hierarchy tab, they will be probably integrated soon to save clicking tab to allow you select just part of scene|object..

New modern layout of TrueLoad..
Clicking on Hierarchy Tree-List obviously restricts what is displayed in OpenGL.. So you can see what contains each layer.. After selecting .lws scene file in Directory Tree-List more advanced Hierarchy Tree-List is created that contains Objects sub-group, with each object with it's Layers, Surfaces, Parts etc. that could be expanded and viewed independently.. You can load object layer of scene that you have no idea where it's really located on the disk, just by traversing .lws hierarchy..

It shows Sub-Patch cage as polygons.. LW SDK does not have exposed functions to calculate Sub-Patches by 3rd party plug-in..

The latest improvements: 200% speed increase (and much faster than LightWave native OpenGL already), Animate can be now started/paused by pressing space key, Grid can be turned on/off by pressing 'g' key, restricting display to selected element in hierarchy like surface (see below), or part, fixed Flat Shade preview mode, a lot of fixes in the entire plug-in..

Actually, Layout plugins can get subpatch information using the meshInfo() function of the Object Info global, with frozen set to true. I've used this in my own internal preview plugin.

The catch is that you have to manually compute the vertex normals.

Well, without SDS-preview, the plugin unfortunately isn't of much interest to me.

True, but when TrueLoad works there is not yet objects loaded by LightWave to Layout nor Modeler! It loads everything using it's own functions, parsing .LWS and .LWO, and generates optimized OpenGL preview..

We'll try to reproduce SDS in future, because it'll be needed in other projects, but say "thank you NewTek".. LW SDK should be a long time ago enhanced by Polygon Handler evaluation functions.. We need it badly in either EasySpline and VirtualMirror as well..

Sensei, is the LW9 SDK structured in the same way? If so, we need some LOUD banners and we shall converge on Texas :)

Of course.. Changes are between 2-4%, I would tell.. Similar to what videos presented: edges (wait for EasySplit with support to edges!), camera, node editor..

I would really be interesten in stand alone viewer..but it must have texture replacement... for example.. I would like to preview the same part of the object with different texture that I can chose from special folder.
must have camera pan, rotate, and zoom in/out (not at the origin)

if you are making this plugin, consider this, if not.. I ask anyone that knows this kind of viewer to post a link.

oh... and absolutley no statistic, dirs, or other info for the object...
only:
object name (witch can read special folder and display all object in that folder) with option to select it for preview
surface names
and surface texture (with browse option for selection different texture). or better yet, preview of all avaliable textures for that surface (wich mean special folders for every surface.
