View Full Version : creating coloured lights from vertex point info

It's possible to create lights from points so can it be taken a step further and have lightwave read the colour info from the point and convert it to the same colour for the light?

The only reason I thought this was because I was rendering using an HDR image last night and thought of the spinning light trick. Then I thought if I used the vertex image tool in modeller to creat a rough image from vertex colour I could convert those coloured points into lights and get a similar effect to what you get using HDR. I'm probably way off but it was just an idea.

well, you could script luxigons to do what your asking...but it would probably be more straightforward to use Eki's Ambimage (http://www.kolumbus.fi/erkki.halkka/plugpak/Overcaster09.html), part of Overcaster, part of Eki's Plugpak (http://www.kolumbus.fi/erkki.halkka/plugpak/), as it converts an image into a light rig.
