hello all merrily running v8.5 on my vaio fs215z, and just have one question that i have never found an easy answer too. I have to import a lot of models from sketchup from team members and they dump a whole load of materials that i dont want or need is there quick way to just delete materials from the surface editor.....

oh and does anyone run 8.5 on a macbook pro, if so whats it like under rosetta???

Do you mean surface names or images used for textures? Any surface name that is not used by a model will no longer be available once you close lightwave and reopen lightwave.
Images can be removed bu using the image editor in lightwave. You can ctrl select to select multiple image not in sequence and shift select image that are in sequence.
After the images are selected, you can right click on the names and select delete.

There will likely be no quick way to do this....
LW5.x had a remove texture button, they forgot to re-add it...
You can go to the poly statistics panel in Modeler, and select the surfaces.

I would suggest writing an Lscript to do this, somewhat more automatically..
