Where do you go on a Win2000 machine to determine which items load up when you start your machine?
You know all those little nasties in the lower right hand corner of your monitor.
Here is a for instance...How would I never let Real Player load again or so many of those other useless ones????
Thanks,
Ken Mac

Go to download.com and find a little utility called Startman. It will give you a list of all programs that run at startup and allows you to disable or remove them. This is better than simply looking in your Startup folder, as not all programs are listed there.

Do a search for "startup" in the Utilities section

First place is in the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

Also open up the Services under Control Panel \Administrative Tools\
You can find a lot of app's running in service mode here. But be very careful which one you change. You can stop services directly from here and I you're positively sure you can also disable the service from running again.

dont forget
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
if you're doing it via regedit...

Beisdes that, Realplayer writes its stupidy start center in the run entries again as soon as you play a real meadia file...(at least RP8 basic) you need to preferences and kill that damn thing there.
