View Full Version : Lightwave Gallery down...makeover time?

03-24-2006, 12:21 PM
I noticed the gallery links are all down, so I typed in http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/gallery
and found no images.

Is the gallery getting a makeover? Or am I getting some kind of at-work-firewall issue?

we started a new gallery. The old gallery is still up and you can find a link on the new gallery to "archive".

the new gallery lets you upload images directly to the script along with wireframes and makes our life a lot easier on the backend as well :)

so we are basically starting fresh with a new clean gallery and putting the old gallery as an archive

I got the same thing here. I guess we'll be finding out soon!

Edit: Oops. Brian Arndt beat me.

out of curiosity, will submissions have to be approved?

it's great now that the maximum size is 800*1024.

I'm going to re-upload my images,

the thing is that there are a LOT of beautiful images in the 'archives' now, are you Brian going slowly moving those to the new gallery?
Some people might not resend their stuff to the new one and it would be a shame not to see them anymore..

I got an error :

"The file could not be moved. Make sure you chmoded the required directories to 777.

any idea ?

(the picture I tried to post were under 800*1024 and under 512k..)

Yes, gallery submissions will still go through a review process.

good deal. thanks Kurtis. I was afraid it'd be open to any chrome sphere on a checkered floor (with lens flare) that we could muster. ;)

Actually, (and although we don't tend to do image challenges around here!), I think it would be kind of cool to try and do a GOOD glass / chrome sphere with checkers image.
 :neener:

After all, with all the neat new stuff and tools we have since those days, it should be possible to do something a lot better!

I'll buy a pint or three for anyone who can get such an image into the new gallery!

The new system will be basically like the old one. Images still need to be reviewed and decided on by staff of what we put up.

We've been working on some script fixes here and there to make it more functional. The new gallery is up. It is very similar to the old one but a newer script and a little more functional. The submission form isnt up yet but i can still recieve them by email.

Sorry for the inconvenience but we do need to review submissions before uploading and we cant upload every submission (as i do get over 50 a week).

actually, this newer version of gallery can support images. But its going to take some work and server installs to get to that point first. But it is on my list!

the submit page changed, is that the final version of the submit page ?

(the one before that was pretty cool, (just fill out the forms)
do we need to re-send our images if we sent them using the older submit page?
