I found Work how you want to work: Layers in Nodes; Nodes in Layers; Layers Only; Nodes Only from LightWave v9: Feature Preview (http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/lw9_features.php).

what are Layers in Nodes and Nodes in Layers ?

Can I use both LW9'SSS and G2 Skin shading tool ?
If I use LW9' shading model, I cannot use g2's shading tools anymore?

LW9 is going to have a new nodal surface editor which you've probably heard about. I assume this means that you can use the nodal editor and the existing layer based editor together in one surface.

yes, I think so, but I didn't see such option in those shading demo videos. hope anyone at Nt will explain this feature.

Yeah i wondered about that myself....

From all of the Nodal videos and chatter i believe you can
If you set for example the color texture properties in LW Layers.. (as normal)
and then you could use Nodal for bump, spec, diffuse.... etc....

The surface that is rendered is using Nodes + Layers.
You can also Add Layers in the Nodes Panel to use Layers + Nodes.
(from what i understand)

You could also use the Surface Mixer plugin, to mix shaders as well....
(as we do now)

As for G2, it should work without problems as shaders are added after surfaces. So G2 should effect the LW surface after the LW SSS shader i imagine.... As it would now...

I guess we have to wait for the Beta to be finished before confirmation.
