Personally, if this was more refined and cleaned up. This will be an awesome addition to Lightwave's animation tools. Especially since a lot have been complaining for the lack there of. I'm not really focused on the animation side of Lightwave so I wouldn't know.

I will worship the person who can make this work and write a tutorial for us here.

basically we need someone who speaks/reads well in japanese to properly translat the page and the manual...then we could hav a real good go with it with some degree of understanding!

anyone help??:help:

Amazing - this looks like Lightwave's answer to Character Studio. The translated pages are impossible to fathom but at least the principles look simple - using a spline to determine the walk path and coloured placements for footsteps.

A walk generator is just what Lightwave needs to boost its animation armoury.

Newtek, please take a serious look and integrate something like this into Layout.

Does this offer anything at all over Maestro2?

I don't think there is any autowalking going on.. What I want is that pose load/save to work... Just errors..
ATPastePoseAdv.ls could do some simple copy paste of poses creating walkcycles.. Check his page.

Oh yea....my bad :)
I should read the full page :D

Ya know, just when I get a charector set to 1 system of animation, along comes something that is a bit better, and now I gotta re-do.

STOP IT !!!! :D :D

I haven't looked at Maestro2 yet. But Automation seems to be more of aimed for automating animation (walk cycles and all for biped and quadropeds) i've yet to play with it yet. I think its still has ways to go to compare with character studio for max but it's probably on the same category. If Newtek would take notice and pick this up for further development then it could be developed as a Character Studio type add on to Lightwave.

But I guess to answer your question directly is ...well ... its free. Pretty hard to grasp without a decent manual but it's free. :D

Cool little video, and the new links & the manual are a nice addition! Keep us posted on the releases/updates!

Alas, for me, the manual link still yields a document in Japanese, which Google Translate mangles badly. Oh, well. :)

Would be great if the developer could drop a thread to tell us more :)

was interested in seeing how the shoulder rig / deformation was done, but the manual doesn't show that.

i think it is a WIP project, so all info / files are not shared. maybe in time (?)

Lino, good to see your comments on the YouTube video. It would be great to see a walk cycle generator in Genoma, something basic where you can place footsteps. Poser has a basic tool which is actually really useful, it might be worth investigating that approach.

Can't believe the original thread was in 2006!!! :0

nah, walk generators are hyped.
they always create stiff bad animation.

True, nothing beats well crafted manual animation but walk generators can be useful if you're in a hurry. Character Studio in Max has had one for decades. I don't think they're hyped, just handy depending on what you're after. It would be nice to see future developments in Genoma along the lines of this Japanese plugin.

I've been able to get some decent walks out of 3DMax, except I hate 3DMax.

If you could take 3ds Max's CAT features - which has massive customizability for biped, quadruped, spiders, etc. walk cycles, with the ability to easily lay down a path and have it followed, this would be great to have in Lightwave.

Honestly, the only reason I use 3ds Max is for CAT and BonesPro - and if Lightwave had that feature set ... there would be no stopping it.

Since AutoDesk bought the plug-in and incorporated it into Max, they seem to have really screwed it up. I'm still waiting on an update to their last update which broke things. Ahhhh.

Dear Newtek- study CAT and bring the feature set over to Lightwave.
