View Full Version : Shadow color?

Hi again, question number two

I'm not sure what I think about the shadow color option, if you use "spotlight", only the shadow of the object is colorized, isn't there any way to colorize the the shadow area around the spotlight as well?

Yup, add more lights, ditch the ambient setting (set it 0).

Add some fill lights, a couple of rim lights and light your surroundings without jeopardising you lighting setup of you subject.

The shadow color will make sense when you've done some lighting setups, it is an handy option when you want to add some color to shadow of light in a complex setup but don't want to add more ambient/fill lights that tend to increase rendering times...

Here's some tutorials to get you going in the right direction:

I can suggest you atleast take a peak at Amaan Akram's tutorials

Thanks again Red Oddity,

I think I know what you are saying, the problem with that is the increased rendertime. I might know of some work-arounds, but I was hoping that there was a setting or something I had forgot.

Thanks again though,
I will check out the lighting tutorials to see if there's a smart solution.

you could also set "ambient color" to anything you like, and leave the value as it is... (i guess this works)
