I need to do some animation in Max but I want to model texture and render in Lightwave. Can Polytrans allow me to do this and if so how easy is it? I'm downloading the demo at the moment but I'm not sure if the demo allows Lightwave files as on the download page it doesn't mention it. I don't want to go and buy the full package only to find I can't do it anyway so any help in this matter would be much appreciated.

Polytrans is overpriced and constantly out of date. If can't transmit displacement data, either.

Take a look at Deep Exploration From http://www.righthemisphere.com/products/dexp/index.htm

It has a demo, and can handle Max files if you have a copy of Max properly installed on the same system. I used it for quite a while converting models from LW to Max, Maya, and occasionally, XSI.

Isn't animation supported by 3dsformat? Camera, lights etc... Maybe a feature req for layout?.. :hammer:
