Hi all :help:
I decide to Buy VT[4] With SDI Option at next 2 months so is there any way
to Install VT[4] Editing Software For training purposes and Where can i find
tutorials references for Editing whit VT[4] Software.

Currently the VT4 edit software TED as well as all of the other VT4 modules are tied to the VT4 card. So you wont be able to do any specific VT4 task until you make your purchase.

Many people HOPE some day that TED will not be locked to the VT4 so you can edit on any machine you like

Oops I forgot to answer you other question. You can get tutorials on the newtek website, and Class on demand has a few VT and Auro DVD's

Are you doing post work or live switching? If only post, a VT3 card should suffice you well. Add another $500 us dollars on the cost of the used VT3 to upgrade the software to VT4.

Below are some of the differences between VT3 and VT4, but note that only those with a ** next to them are specific to the VT4 card. If you do not need anything with a ** next to them, a VT3 card and a VT4 software upgrade should do you just fine.

Here is a brief description of the

Real-time DV Out provides the ability to send either live or produced
material out via FireWire cable to any compatible deck or camera. This
option is selectable between the various VT[4] busses: Preview, Program,
Main, or Key.

Additional DVEs have been added to the arsenal, bringing the count to more
than 500. With VT[4], NewTek has consolidated all DVEs, both NTSC and PAL,
as part of a single content installation across 3 DVDs. These new DVEs are
the highest quality transitions NewTek has ever shipped.

Integrated Scan Conversion comes to VT[4] with the new VGA Capture utility.
Run from the Windows Task tray, this utility can turn any windows
application1 into a switcher input, reducing or eliminating the need for
hardware scan conversion. Since it runs as a stand-alone application, it is
possible to launch it and send, say, PowerPoint to video outputs without
ever launching VT[4]. This utility allows you to zoom in to a selected
portion of the screen, to auto-follow the mouse, to key out selected colors
onscreen, and more.

Automated Video Stabilization is Tool Shed's newest tool. This utility takes
advantage of VT-Edit's real-time positioning and sizing to quickly smooth
out video that was either hand-held or acquired from a shaky platform, such
as through the window of a moving car or aircraft. This can be accomplished
on either a frame or field-basis, with adjustable smoothing levels. Only
VT[4] gives you stabilization without rendering!

**Preview Out - is active on the VT[4] card, allowing a separate field monitor
to always monitor the Preview bus during a live production.

**Alpha Out is also active on VT[4], and through software, shares the Preview
out BNC connector. This allows a VT[4] to run both CGs and the transparency
channel to an upstream switcher.

DVD Authoring has been added with the inclusion of ULead's DVD Workshop 2
SE. This fully capable authoring package is integrated with VT-Edit, so you
can drop your edited project right in for encoding and authoring, without
the need to render out a contiguous video file first.

MPEG-2 Encoding is now provided through DVD Workshop. It is a very simple
process to convert your project into a compliant MPEG-2 stream for authoring
and in the same step, burn to DVD.

CG Post allows the creation and editing of motion CG pages directly within
VT-Edit. Acting as a filter on the timeline, CG pages can be positioned and
moved on either a full-page basis, or even modify the motion of each text
line or graphic element. CG Post further offers animated kerning and
type-out effects.

One Button Internet Streaming uses the same high-quality windows media
output now in an easy-to-use interface that lets you simply assign the
quality (bandwidth) of your stream, and click one button to broadcast.

Serverless Streaming is integrated into VT-Stream, and allows you to host up
to 10 clients at once (bandwidth permitting) without the need for a Windows
Media Server or ISP connection.

Image Super-sampling provides the highest-quality real-time scaling in
VT[4], meeting or exceeding the quality of compositing software that has to
render to even come close to this.

Per-layer blurring now in VT[4] allows any clip, overlay, or graphic to
blurred horizontally or vertically. This of course can be keyframed or saved
as a User preset to quickly apply in the future.

Real-time Video Effects in VT-Edit include Emboss, Edges, Gaussian Blur, and

Chromakey spill suppression has been added to both the VT[4] Live Keyer and
the real-time chroma keyer in VT-Edit. Spill suppression provides more
sophisticated control over minimizing undesirable blue or green edging when
pulling a key.

New Clip border controls have been added to VT-Edit, allowing adjustment of
the inside and outside border colors and transparency. The number of edges
is adjustable from 3 upward, with additional controls to modify the size and
position on all four corners

EDL Export now added to VT[4], rounding out the data file workflow.

Smooth shadows on keyed clips provides wonderfully soft edges and the
shadows now conform to the shape of the keyed image. As with all other
functions in VT-Edit, color, offset and opacity are all keyframeable.

Improved VT Vision has been added to VT4, with a smoother image output that
more closely resembles the video signal.

Auto 16:9 Aspect is supported as VT[4] now looks for the 16:9 flag in video
clips and frames the VT-Vision monitor accordingly. There are now also 16:9
and 4:3 aspect buttons quickly accessible on the top of each VT-Vision

Switcher Croutons open up a whole new capability in integrating Live and
Post capabilities. These controls allow the VT-Edit project timeline to
configure switcher inputs, and their status on the Preview, Aux, Main, Key
or DSK busses. This allows VT-Edit to jump to live audio or video sources
and back again.

Punch in Audio support allows the editor to roll a VT-Edit project and watch
the output while recording a narrative track straight to the timeline.

Audio Mixer Pass-thru since it is applied "post recording", this means you
are able to record the house mix without feedback issues from DDR audio
already being fed to the house.

Audio Mixer capture console is essentially an 8-channel mixer, with sliders,
integrated in the capture panel. Tweaking levels on-the-fly is now very fast
and easy.

3-Band EQ of all computer sources has been added to the VT[4] audio mixer,
allowing you bass, mid and treble control of any DDR or VT-Edit materials
during a live switch.

8-Band EQ in VT-Edit has been added in Control Tree and audio properties,
allowing you keyframebale fine tone controls over all audio files in an

Automated Talk Over is supported in the VT[4] audio mixer, where the click
of a single button reduces the volume all other inputs to give this channel
priority, very handy for VJ live productions.

Real-time audio effects have been added to VT-Edit. These include reverb,
delay, distortion, and a flexible compressor/limiter

Floating-point Audio provides distortion-free recording into VT[4]. There is
now more than 10dB of headroom, meaning if the signal spikes at +3 or +6,
the digital audio will not distort.

Unity Gain ensures that any incoming audio will be captured and output at
the same volume it was received.

Calibrated Audio is available on all VT[4] audio meters throughout the
production suite. Capture, Batch Capture, VT-Edit, DDR and Audio Mixer all
indicate the full range with calibrated marks.

Filebin QuickTabs make leaping between folders easier than ever, with your
most-used favorites one click away in the bottom of any Filebin. Similar to
the Flyer's tabs in days of yore, this provides an endless, scrollable row
of tabs to take you to any folder on your system. Adding or removing a
QuickTab is as easy as it was with the VT[3] Hotlist. Click. Done.

Tally Light Support has been improved with the SX-84 breakout box. This
offers 5 volt tally triggers, for a wider variety of hardware, and is an
improvement over the SX-8's 3 volt signal.

Cleaner Panel Controls are available with the ability to click and hide the
VT-Vision or VT-Scope panel controls. The same toggle will collapse a DDR
window to hide the files and just display the control panel.

DDR Preview is another workflow tool. A small VT-Vision monitor on each DDR
shows you at a glance what files are playing in each.

Module Presets, which save your custom settings, remain on control panels,
such as Proc Amp, Keyer and Background Generator, but each module has
increased the preset buttons from 4 to 6.

4-Channel Input on the VT[4] card allows input of 4 separate audio channels,
either mic or line level. Each audio signal is selectable as mic or line in
on the SX-84.

Background Render has become more 'intelligent' now. Simply play through a
multi-layer segment in your project once, and subsequent playbacks will be
ready to print.

**Genlock is now integrated into the VT[4] card. VT[4] can time to house synch
with or without an SX breakout.

**Additional Video Input through the VT[4] card now affords a third input, to
be implemented in an upcoming patch.
