Look at the video list towards the bottom - the one called "particle rain"

I'd imagine it would have something to do with your location and the hosting company

I know there is a scene in LW 7.5 directory for rain, not sure if there is one in 8+.....

It's not a tut but one good trick to rain is to render it into different layers falling at different speeds and then comp together to get a good feel of depth. :)

anyone tried the Rain tutorial?

for some reason i can't get the object to become a Collision (of course i don't have the 'dumbar' object, but tried with a bal), it doesn't get the wireframe around it either... all thats happening is the particles are falling through the object as if it didn't exist.
is there something that i've done wrong? i have lightwave 8.5 and the tute is lightwave 8 could that eb a problem?

Ok, that's my tutorial.
I'll outline the steps in the AM and post them here. I just tried it and it's working fine in 8.5...

That will be great if you can do that, I really want to learn how to do rain :)

btw is there a reason why the link to the 4th part of rigging isn't working? or isn't it finished yet...i've done all of the 3 parts that i can download but i can't download the 4th one.

i'd have to say fantastic Tutorials though, very useful :)

Hey Dan just so you know. The link for Bone Tools & Rigging 4 in your free video tutorials is not working.

Back to the rain problemo, i've worked out that if i add in an FX_collision and its adds a sphere or box etc. in wireframe. This collision works but when i grab a model like a box and go properties and add FX_Collision to the object the particles seem to ignore it.

Fixed the link.

Now onto the rain...

I worked out the problem...simple really :)
after making the object an FX_collsion I had to change the type to object, object-subdiv or object-Advanced.

but at last I have my rain....or steam for the project i'm doing

I believe to do physical water simulation like that you have to splurge for Realflow, unless someone knows how to fake it with Lightwave's particles..
