Just wondering if anyones has some settings that will produce the specularity associated with gold discs? I know about the BDRF shader, but not getting the required results.

Well, that can be done with just a bump.
Create a UV that goes around the disc, and assign a bump map that is simply nothing but a striped (and somewhat stipply (is that word? :) )) image.

A surface like that relies more on reflection than specularity. Which makes sense, since specularity is just a cheat which is meant to simulate reflected light anyway. So put something in your environment for your surface to reflect (luminous white cards, an HDR image if you have one, etc.) and you'll be well on your way.

Denis Pontonnier lately ported some Renderman procedural textures. Look @ Flay.
They include Radial, Spiral etc
You can apply a radial bump on the disk very easily :)
