hired this film out today and on the 2nd disc with the behind the scenes there were lightwave screens up n running for models and senes from the film so it looks like it was a lightwave gig for the 3d stuff...

looks fantastic BTW...... :lwicon:

this isn't listed on the lightwave film list on newtek's site..maybe it should  be....

This movie is made by a Korean company. The movie is called Wonderful days and the it is released in 2003. As I know , the maker spent a lot of money on it, but the box office is very poor.

I think that name is for US or some other countries. I have a DVD , the title on DVD and the beginning of the movie are both Wonderful days.

ahh okay this seems to happen quite a bit..a europe release or usa release name do not tally up..such as the usa name for the first harry potter film in the usa was not the name of the origonal book or the proper film title release...they thought that the 'usa general public' wouldn't know the meaning of pholospher so they changed it to scourcerer...! :)

the dvd i rented is entitled sky blue [i'm in the uk btw] just as movie site is from the company who made it [link is above in my first post]

anyway that's just a name!.........whatever ! [as they say :D ]

i'll most probably buy the movie as it's a good looking film...a first anime film from korea..most probably why it took so long to finish.[7 yrs]

Pfff, glad i didn't buy it...as i already own a Wonderfull Days import....i thought the pics on the back of the DVD looked somewhat familiar (they did use very vague pics though, barely recognisable as belonging to the film...probably hoping dumbassas like me buy the DVD again :D ).

I'm not familiar with this project myself. I'll have to look into it.

i like the character design. it's a sin that movie didn't do well. hope to see it someday so that i could judge it properly.

The reason this film is somewhat special, is that it uses EVERYTHING possible to create a film/animation, so that would include 3D, but more special, maquettes/miniatures (not that it is anything NEW mind you, it has been done before).

Too bad the original site is down, as it contained a pretty cool making off.

Not sure the newly released DVD is as nice as this one : http://www.mrkwang.com/the-106/DVD--cln--Wonderful-Days/Detail.bok

The trailer looks good, I'm tempted to buy a copy just for reference purposes, even if the story isn't that great. I wasn't that impressed with the Appleseed or Innocence storylines but the visuals were 100%.

Ok, I first saw the trailer for this film while watching some other anime and thought, "Wow, this looks really cool." Then I heard through some type of "fruit bearing vine" that a lot of the stuff was done in Lightwave. So, I was even more eager to get it.

My opinion of it...... I honestly can't remember the film after having finally seen it. I guess that is how much of an impact it had for me... I seem to recall the visuals were decent, but the story was um... nonexistent... This seems to be a truth since I can't remember a thing about it... lol...

I bought the original Korean DVD release of this and it has great visuals. The way they blended 3D with 2D was better than most Animes I've watched. The story is pretty typical. It's not painful to watch or anything, but it would come out as a typical action sci-fi movie.
It pretty good reference DVD to study, heck I even have the 3D Care Bears movie for study. Which seem to be made in LW as well, after seeing Proton's LW bear on Spinquad.
