Hello all. I'm a new Tricaster customer. Today was our first use. It went pretty well.

A few questions have surfaced. Maybe some of you old salts can help...

Our Tricaster is connected to the internet through a router running Network address translation. We are on a small 10 machine LAN. I'm worried about viruses, etc.

- Is it okay to apply all windows XP updates as they become available?
- What about installing Symantec Antivirus? Will that slow down or otherwise adversely affect the Tricaster?

Thanks,
LFBC

Yes, Microsoft updates are ok.
You don't want to install any anti-virus software on TriCaster, though.
That would eat up too many CPU cycles to allow a sucessful show.

Hey Paul,
That was my suspicion. Thanks for answering so quickly. :)

I was concerned about the Windows XP security updates; wondering if we keep them up to date without breaking the Tricaster software. I do understand the wisdom of disabling autoupdate.
We want to enable media streaming through a live IP address (using a IP masquerade type firewall) as safely as possible.
I'm glad to hear it's okay.
