Does anyone have some idea of what an animator (especially for medical animations) would generally go for in terms of his hourly rate? I realize that some work would be contracted on a project per project basis, but what is generally the hourly rate for a middle of the road but experienced animator, working in a production facility?

I would say it depends a lot on your past experience (credits) and location.

For medical animations I really don't know.

I think the rates on that site (link above) are low for LA... don't know about NY but I'm sure it's not very different.

Although as I said I don't really have much experience in the medical field so I'm not sure... but for television / film... it would be higher.
