the last 9 days were fun for me.
minus man gave me this model and asked me to texture it.
his wish was my command ;)
here you see some of the progress and various versions to the final rendering.

here the first 4 layers of 7 total.

here the first 4 layers of 7 total with a different texture combination.

and here all 7 layers of the model with more texture combinations.

These last two are the final textured version minus man and i agreed on.
this model has a total of 211 surfaces with 19 uv texture maps.
the renderingtime at a resolution of 1280x960 pixel was about 1 hour
with 17 AA.i used a simple lighting set up with 2 distance lights.
only one throws a shadow.i also used a plug in named ambient occlusion
for the "radiosity look".

You're obviously very, very good at texturing! Any chance you could share some tips on how you created that awesome rusty metal?

Very nice work :agree:

@adrian

I make a lot of photos from rusty metal pieces and then you mix serveral
in ps and then put it on my model in the surface colour channel. I usually use a completely different texture for the bump channel (or a mix of original and other). I also use another different texture for the diffuse channel. There is of course a lot of trial and error ;) and it's not easy for me to explain with my english, sorry.

@ Safari FX

Will this character be rigged and animated? Also, could you maybe post a wireframe of Minus man's model? The design of this character is insane.
Great work on both model and textures.

Big ups to Berlin and Happy New Year, don't get too twisted.
