Ok I have a few torches in a scene, fire is done with a Vol. distant light, and the acuall light is done with a area light, is htere a way to add a noise ro fractil ot its intecity/falloff to give it that flame effect? Sorry i'm a maya/max kid, wanting to learn a new app. So far pickingh it up pretty quick but kinda stumped here. Can some one point me to a tut? Welcome. It's always great to have new people from various 3D backgrounds here.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure the answer to your question, but here are a couple great Lightwave tutorial sites to bookmark: (Your answer is most likely at one of these sites)

Lightwave Tutorials on the Web:
http://members.shaw.ca/lightwavetutorials/Main_Menu.htm

And of course Newtek's tutorial site:

Hope this helps,
-Rob

Go in the graph editor and add the noisy channel modifier to the lights intensity envelope
