I am trying to make a Christmas tree in Lightwave, but i have not found any help on how to make nice tinsel... Anyone who can help?

Here's how I would do it:

Create a flat face
UV map that face
Clone it and rotate the clones (say... 9 clones, 18 degrees each)
Paint a UV map for the tinsle texture, which is pretty straight forward, line down the middle, lots and lots of alternating lines
Apply the tinsle texture as a clip map, and you're golden!

To add on to this question....does anyone know if sasquatch could accomplish this?

sasquatch is very slow

clipmaps is SIX TIMES faster than alpha channells, don't forget

I wouldn't try it with physical geometry, or sasquatch.
Use image maps on flat planes, with alpha channels. Or, another idea is to use clip maps, with a color map on top.
