Is your monitor calibrated?
Why are you converting to CMYK when you say the printer isn't calibrated?

You could try Profiler Plus from Colorvision (http://www.colorvision.com) but then you also would need a flatbed scanner. Works great for not-so important jobs though.

For real heavy-duty profiling I suggest you get in touch with a printer or a pre-press bureau and beg them to make an ICC-profile of your printer and selected paper. It's the best way to get correct colors.
