I'm trying to morph my cymbal and stand object without the extra deformations in the Layout. When create the rotating morph target for the cymbal and stand, pull it into the Layout and add the Morph Mixer and start messing with the sliders, in the process of the rotation, the cymbal and stand has an awkard deformation before it reaches the morphed destination. I'm not sure why it does that. I've tried using the Rotate Morph, but it's not helping the situation at all. Need some advice.

A morph is linear, and it looks like you want your object to move on a curve. I'd probably use IK to do the swing you're trying to do rather than morph targets. That way, no deformation.
