Ok, i remember rendering 12000 pixel images with 8.3

now with 8.5 i cant even get past 3400 pixels with 3 gigs of ram???!!?!?

my scene statistics have 14k polygons, 5 lights 2 images has 918m of render memory and 2100m of ram + 0k pagefile.

i dont get it...

900+ mb of render memory, is not very much.....
That's less than 1Gb of your total 3GB, so i would say try and free up some memory...... Why have 3Gb if your only using 1gb

Lightwave could handle memory a little better, especially with textures,
but really Windows and computers could do better too....

12000 is huge, and should probally be done in strips or something...
If not go back to 8.3...

I don't have any memory management issues in LW 8.5 (no more than usual)
which is about what i'd expect from my machine, and 3D software.

You only have to look how badly windows uses memory, to see why we have problems, Windows will often fragment memory badly...

Restart your machine, stop any services or programs running......
possibly turn page file back on, just to see if it gets paged...
And try again, usually my available RenderMemory doubles when i do that... :)
