View Full Version : Content Directory Applescript

Something like this may have been posted before, but I just made it so I thought I would make it available to anyone who wants it. I make no warranties on it though.

If you put the script in your HardDrive>Library>Scripts folder, it will appear under the scripts menu at the top right of the screen.

The way the script works:
Select the script from the menu.
It asks you to choose a destination folder.
It asks you to name your new content directory.
It then creates that folder, which contains the following folders:
objects, scenes, renders, motions, surfaces, envelopes, previews, images
It also creates a folder within the images folder called sourceFiles.

It is also fairly straight forward to change the script to make more or fewer folders. Just open in ScriptEditor and it will be self explainatory.

Have fun,

So simple yet so brilliant, thanks Lou!

I was trying to work out a better workflow for content management, but I'm one of those who rarely uses Applescript so it never occurred to me to use it. Maybe I should start playing around with it now and learn what else can be done!

PS. For those like me who don't/didn't have the Applescript pulldown icon visible on the menu bar in the top right corner, you need to open the AppleScript Utility.app (in your applications folder) and simply check the 'Show Script Menu in menu bar' option.
