i've searched everywhere and looked through the manual, but can't find how to do this. i'm sure it's possible and i think i might've done it at some time.

i'm building some decor pieces that have "twinkle lights" inside of them. like tiny christmas lights. i tried using luxigons, but have run into the problem of max lights and slow render times. i'd like to just have the points glow as i don't need them to cast light or shadows.

can i make a point cloud in modeler and have it light up?

Here's the steps I took:

1. Create a ball and Kill the polys.
2. Bring this into Layout
3. Under properties/Geometry Add the HV Custom Object plugin
4. Double click and Activate HV's for that object
5. Leave it as Object Type Surface
6. Lower you Particle size (I used 35mm)
7. Set the base color to Yellow and added a Blue Turbulence Procedural Texture layer for variety (or whatever you like)
8. I raised the luminosity to something I liked
9. I added a 3D procedural Texcture of Ripples so the Luminosity would vary over time
10. Render

An avi.zip is attached.

Takes no time to setup or render.

Yes you can just use single point polys.... And give them a luminosity and or glow effect on them... And would render quicker than HV...
Remember to turn particles into SPP, before you get to layout...

If you are running into a Light limit, edit the configs, which have a max lights number, which you can increase....

You could also FX link a bunch of lights or lens flares and attach them
to SPP, and that would work too...
