Add better game engine support, or please someone do it
3rd party!
Support to export to NintendoDS's nitro engine would make a solid
hit on having to use 3dsMax. I bought 3dsMax for $3500 + $500 for
NuGraf, just to get my Lightwave work into this engine!
Max is officially the most expensive Lightwave plugin I've purchased!

I'm on the ledge, toes hanging off, afraid to look down.
Please, somebody, talk me down!
I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO USE MAX FOR GAMES!!! But i just... you're
forcing me to... No! I can't!
Please!
Help...

What's the format that the nitro engine uses that Max supports and LW doesn't?

Good question. I can't find a nitro specific file format ...

I believe it's something of it's own. For game developers of ninDS, there is
a plug-in that runs in max. Okino's nugraf/polytrans does a wonderful
job of getting stuff from LW to Max. Deep Exploration was flawed.
But then there is a bunch of criteria to get it into ninDS. We've decided
to "go it alone" and write code to get LW stuff into the engine, and I'm
pretty conifident we can, but it's an in-house process and cost we
didn't expect to incur. Gotta do what it takes! If all goes well, maybe we
can sell a LW plug-in to do it. But Max is pretty tempting, when it comes to games.
Character studio, real-time poly reduction (blew me away, just
fiddle with a slider and a few parameters, and bring it down to acceptable
levels, in under a minute! Real-time!), + all the game engines that have connectivity.

I DO think it blows in so many areas I can't even begin... (but will!)
Surfacing, interface, weird names for tools, bloated mem-req, expensive
3rd party, I get packages from them labeled "Discreet", so the delivery
guy thinks I'm a pervert, the list goes on and on...

I will likely always model in LW, but for character setup, and easy
spoon-fed functions, Max is pretty sweet. And I swear I can't believe
this is coming out of me!!! Lightave is truly my favorite. But so is $$$!!!
Maestro has helped quite a bit, and is getting so nice, I love it!

Still...
I am very, VERY sad...
hold me?

Can you provide any links tghat document the format? And what exactly makes max good (other than the things you've mentioned) ie do you need to export bone animation etc?

Haha, that is truly just too funny!!! :D :D Did you ask him? or is it just paranoia due to all the other plainly wrapped packages you receive? :D
