How many prestets are there available and where from. eg are there presets for timber floor planks in various finishes and patterns, wicker, pebbles etc... or do you need to image map these sort of things?

PS. thanks for the Luxology tip.

Also I am working on an apple cube with 756 ram which i think is falling short what within reason would the next machine to move on to?

Chears, Matt.

General presets can be found at Preset Central
http://www.presetcentral.com/

and you already know about Luxology:
http://www.luxology.net/

A lot of the online 3D magazines also have free stuff... models and textures.
You will probably find woodgrain textures in these places.

One popular site is 3D Café:
http://www.3dcafe.com/

There are lots of other 3D magazines online.

Regarding RAM...

Current G4 PowerMacs running OS X can be decked out with 2GB of RAM. Apple will soon release its next generation machines which can take much more RAM.

The Cubes were nice machines, except for the fact that you couldn't upgrade them much.

I'd recommend using at least 1GB of RAM with Lightwave, especially if you have lots of large image maps. 2GB is optimum.

See the ongoing thread about 64-bit Macs...
