View Full Version : Hair "emitter"

I recently re-viewed the tutorial on making a character sweat using an emitter and a small stip of copied scalp --> ftp://ftp.newtek.com/pub/LightWave/Tutorials/Vidz/SweatTech.mov

and it got me thinking (oooo, dangerous): What if I applied a similar technique to create hair? I could, in theory:

>grow hair to any length (for still shots)
>create some cool hair-alive animations
>forego Saslite (a neat plugin, but I've never gotten the results I wanted)
>cut setup times for hair down to nothing
>generally have mucho fun.

Unfortunately, I've come to the conclusion that I'm too dumb when it comes to customizing emitter settings. I can't come up with an end product that looks like hair.

Is there any way I can create an emitter that emits "hair", or something that looks close? I'm mainly concerned with still shots at this point, so it doesn't need to look like it's growing.

I have a free video tutorial on my site called 'easy hair guides'. Its a trick I used to use way back before LW had any hair plugins. :)
The link is in my sig.
