Thanks for the kind comments guys! This was for a multimedia sales tool. The client builds those boats. Here are a few closeups.

No,I figured a new start.
What the heck you know?
Seeing this new forum just inpired me to create a new one and besides I think Newtek knows my feelings about dongles so there is no need to pursue old news....

hehe, you can't blame wgreenlee, the poor guy was just going through LW withdrawal. He can't be held accountable for his actions.

Wow! Awesome ships!

How did you render them? They are very clean and I would love to get the same clean render effect for some spaceships I am thinking of modelling..

Again, awesome work!

Thanks Morituri Max,

It's really just a basic 3 point lighting. I usually turn shadows on for only one of the lights to simulate daylight. The background is full white. In the case of these renders they were to be printed out, so I just made sure the white areas of the boat were very slightly grey, Like RGB 200 200 200, so they would stand out against the background. I would have liked to do a radiosity lighting setup on these, but as usual the client didn't give me the project till the last minute, so they were rushed. Maybe I'll go back and do that someday just for fun.

Is there a good place on the web for getting ship plans and details? I'm currently working on the Edmund Fitz and I can't find good images. Like the detail of the hold cover hoist and bridge interior.

Schwing,

I am not aware of any offhand. The plans for these were provided to me by the client, who builds the ships.

If you know the shipbuilder, you may try to contact them. They may be interested, especially if your willing to provide them with renders. I looked up the ship your talking about, and found that it is a sunken ship. Your probably going to have a hard time finding plans for that one. Good Luck.
