View Full Version : How do I make a clean UNINSTALL of LW?

I was running LW 8.3, installed 8.5, and later decided it wasn't for me.

But when I went to uninstall and then reinstall 8.3 , some of the same problems existed as before.

Granted I didn't uninstall the content, just the LW 8.3 (still said 8.3 in my XP Uninstall manager, not 8.5 ...??)

Are there registry keys I need to deal with? And I believe I took out the config files, maybe I missed some?

Lightwave doesn't make too much use of the registry, but a simple search using regedit or similar for the word newtek will show you where it all is.

Before you go deleteing all the references, make sure you have uninstalled all there is to uninstall, because a good number of the reg entries are for the purposes of uninstalling.

The main other entries are in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NewTek (refers to 8.0 & 8.5)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NewTek, Inc. (refers to 8.3)

AFAIK None of the entries other than uninstall info is actually used by LW,

There are some entries that can cause the uninstall not to work properly. If the uninstall doesn't show up in the Add/Remove you May need to delete some entries in the registry. The content CD's are listed there and can cause uninstall problems. I had once needed to delete every entry in order to reinstall properly.
