I don't know how many Irish members are on these forums, but does anyone know of any courses that teach you Lightwave, like a night class or something, running in the Waterford, Ireland area? If not, can anyone recommend an online course for a complete beginner? I'm working from the manual with Lightwave 8.5 and am going quite well, but it's slow.

Hi paul, as a begginner myself I might be able to point you in the direction of some good tutorials. I dont live in Ireland so dony know of any places for schooling but over the past month I have searched high and low for tutorials, and here is are a few good sites. The first one Kurvstudios requires free registration to access the 'free tutorials' and although they are not complete, they will show you some good techniques. After saying this, you may already know this stuff. I recommend the spaceship tutorial, although not complete it really kicked off my ability to model in subpatch mode. Hope these help: http://www.kurvstudios.com/

i'd highly reccomend splinegod's introduction to lightwave cdroms, i bought them and had a nice transition over to lightwave from 3dsmax, in addition i'd also reccomend inside lightwave 8.0 book too as this also has 5 hours of video training included.

your first stop shoud be the 100+ videos available in the tutorial section of newtek's site thenget yourself over to the free video tutorials from splinegod!

oh n welcome aboard the lightwave train! :cat:

Thanks for pointers  . I'm moving over from Caligari trueSpace 5.1. Still use trueSpace a lot since it know it fairly well, but over time that should change. I find the Lightwave 8 manual is quite good, it's just slow going.

Cresshead, where do I find SplinGods tutorials?
