...Powerbook running Lightwave? I was wondering how was its.... performance...

Uh, why are you smiling?

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody used the 12 inch powerbook to run LW and how does it compare to other powerbooks, or even a desktop? How usable is it? I know the screen is actually inferior to the 15 or 17" as far as brightness, contrast and viewing angles. I just love the small form factor. Besides, I've got nothing to compensate for unlike those 17" powerbook early adopters....

Got one, Love It! It compares favorably to my desktop G4 933. The screen is tiny but I wanted a portable that's a portable. Lightwave renders are speedy and The open GL is good as well. You definitely need the extra RAM.

Runs fine on my 12, as far as the screen goes, I use the the 12 inch screen for palettes and have a CRT hook up for everything else when I not on the road.

it only has one RAM slot and right now you can only get a 512 chip for it, however Gig chips will be out for it this summer :)

You can put two 512 MB sticks in the powerbooks, making it a gig.. Sweetness.. Although, buying two 512 sticks leaves one 256 stick lying around useless... >sigh<

One gig sticks!!! OMG! That's neatness at primo... (Don't ask)

Jimzip. :D

P.S. I have used the word 'stick' too much in this post..

The 15" and 17" have two slots, the 12" only has one, with 128Mb soldered on to the motherboard.
