View Full Version : NewTek Announcement: Did someone say, "Download LightWave 64..."?

Hi, Folks!

When we made the decision to make the 64-bit version available on CD, it really seemed to us like the better way to go. Apparently, lots of folks would really prefer to have a download, so we gave it another thought...and we'll have a version for you to download shortly! The download should be ready in the next 24 to 48 hours, and we'll let you know officially that it's ready here in this forum. You'll be able to download LightWave 64 following the standard download procedure from NewTek or the partner site where you are registered.

For anyone who has already placed an order for the 8.5 Program CD Convenience Upgrade through our office in San Antonio, one of our friendly customer service reps will contact you to confirm your order and determine if you want us to proceed with processing or initiate a credit to your account.

Good on Newtek

Not that I have a 64bit system, it just seems like the right thing to do. :)

I don't have Win64 yet and will probably wait for the whole thing (drivers, support, etc.) to even out before I upgrade. However, I understand how some may feel about things and this makes it sit right with all I think.

One as a workstation and one as a rendernode.

Cheers !!!

Well, That is totally wicked!

But I don't have a 64bit machine yet. I'm still skittish on buying one yet since the tech is still new. I want to utilize its capabilities with LW64 asap though.

Glad to know about the Download.

On the sincere feeling that every now and then good news ought to be allowed to just be good news, rather than always turning into a soapbox for other issues, I've split the first off-topic inquiry that cropped up onto a new thread.

If you have anything you want to ask or any comment to make about any other topic, please start a new thread.

Well done Chuck..... that's a pretty cool move :)

Maybe this would be a good test of online distribution fore LW9? ;)

Thanks Chuck and the team, good call! Nice to know that community feeling can sway a relatively important decision like this in such a short time.

Cool, thanx for being so prompt (and apologies if I was one of those dampening the fun, I was just overly excited) .

Nice, nice, nice!

I knew I liked Newtek for a reason :) It's not every day you see a company sit down and seriously consider customer's opinions based on forum threads :)

Hopefully this way, any bugs that pop up in mass usage of 64bit Lightwave can be addressed before 9 ships :)

I've always been relativly happy with NT's service, and this just boosts that opinion. Thanks alot!

Now to find me a few more gigs of RAM...

When will it be available for us Europeans from Newtek Europe?

Question for Chuck.

What system does Newtek recommend runnning LW64 on?

AMDx2, Intel D?

Just want to put together a system that will run it optimally.

These guys have some great options.
