Trying to export geometry from LW 8.3 to Maya 6 or 7. I've been told it works, but have yet to get it to work on my Macs. One person suggested exporting to FBX, but I've no idea what that is and can't find a reference in my LW files. Does anyone have experience in this?

You'll need to register on Alias's site to download a lightwave FBX exporter. I personally haven't had good luck with it, given that FBX seems to need a little tweaking still (FBX systems seem to blow up on me too many times with too many models.)

I'd try to use .obj format (make sure to attach the UV map in the surfaces panel or LW won't export it.) Alternatively, if you have Modo, bring the model into Modo and send it out as Maya Ascii (MA) format.
