View Full Version : How do I select polys by weightmap?

I tried "select by map" on the View tab but nothing happens. I get a popup that asks me to select a vertex map, and the weightmap I want to use is listed (dunno if a weightmap is technically exactly what they mean by "vertex map", but since it showed up on the list I assume it should work), but when I select it and hit ok, nothing gets selected...

The help files describe a mythical tool called "select by map influence" which would be exactly what I want except that I can't find that tool anywhere in 8.3. I even went into Edit Menu, looked under the Selection commands and not finding it there did a search but came up with nothing. Does it actually exist??

Select by Map should select all points that have an assigned value in a vertex map (weight, morph, texture, color, selection). Even a value of 0 is an assigned value. So it should just select all points in a weight map.

Select By Map Influence is contained within lscript\model\selectbymapinfl.ls. As it's a plugin it will not appear under Selection commands, but instead under Additional.

An alternative to using Select By Map Influence is to use the old Cull Map command (unfortunatly it recieved such a bad name no one ever knew or bothered to figure out what it was for). However it is not as flexible as Select by Map Influence.

Just tried the Select by Map Influence tool and it tells me no vertex map meets my criteria, even though they do. Is this tool broken? Is any one else's working? I'm on LW 8.5. Thanks.

Can anyone just tell me if theirs is working in 8.5?
