well i`ve always wanted to create my own games and i`ve been doing a little research on game engines and stuff like that. but what all do i really need to create video games? and does anyone have any good webisites for tutorials, engines, and websites or information that could help me? thank you very much anyone that can help me.

If you want to be hardcore and build a 3D engine, www.gameinstitute.com is a great place to start (programming wise).
Game art takes usualy three routes; 3DS Max, Maya and Lightwave (in order of popularity).
2D art is usualy done with Adobe Photoshop but Paintshop Pro 9 is much better fiscally.

Now this is all just Indie work, if you want to get your game on shelves you better be **** good at what you do because it is close to impossible (in the grand scheme of things).
