Which is better... LW AA or processing the AA with a plugin for Combustion/After Effects?

I don't know about "better" but I use LW's AA. Post AA is something I usually think about if we're dealing with sub-pixel optimization.

Sub-pixel?

Sub-pixel?

The technique is to render bigger than you'll need (say 2x), then when you composite (often from film scanned at a higher resolution than tv/video requires) you can optimize the averages of each pixel as you collopase back down to normal resolution (say 2 x 2 pixels down to 1 pixel.) It let's you algolrithmically treat compositing edges for a more seamless composite.

Esentially you're working with data at a fraction of the pixel versus the whole pixel, hence "sub-pixel optimization."

Ah, I see.
