Is there a way to have the points on each end of a cylinder parented to different nulls?

I'm trying to achieve an effect where I can have a "bar" or "beam" stay connected to two separate objects as they are animated in Layout. The end result would show that connecting bar stretch or squash depending on the locatin of the nulls as they are animated in the transformation channels.

Any leads greatly appreciated!
