Great list of tricks. I am adding these to my collection of notes. Thanks for sharing.

I have been trying my hand at char animation again with lightwave and I am having much better luck this time because of "tricks" that I have started using such as...

** simplified rig
** end all names of control bones with "$"
** end all names of non deforming bones with "@"
** use non-hierarchial mode in the scene editor and filter on "contains $"
** use filtered scene editor to hide all bones except control bones
** setup lightwave to automatically update manually set keys but not to automatically create keyframes
** parent goal nulls to control bones and hide goal nulls
** set rotation only keyframes on all control bones by drag highlighting all of them at once within the perspective view
** define selection set in scene editor for the control bones that require translation keyframes
** use selection set to set translation only keyframes

"parent goal nulls to control bones and hide goal nulls"

What does this do? -asks the Noob... :D

You can set all your rotation keys at one time by drag selecting across all the visible bones on the character then set "rotation only" key on selected items. Since you cannot select bones and nulls at the same time this would not work.

This is just a workflow choice.
