Has anyone taken the time to setup an Xgrid cluster?

It would be very cool to have a Lightwave user cluster, eh?

Would that even work?

Well, it would probably take some sort of Plugin to make Lightwave be able to communicate with the XGRID cluster, but Xgrid was designed specifically for scientific applications like renderers, so I dont see why it WOULDN'T work.

I can sort of imagine 2,000+ G5's on an xgrid cluster. Xgrid is also designed so that it immediately reverts processing power back to the mac when it is being used locally, ideal for people like me who only use their G5's maybe a few hours a day. I'd be happy to share mine when im not using it, so I imagine there are probably at least a few thousand other people willing to do the same. :)

yeah, specifically for a post posted by eblu; he gave an explanation something like Xgrid and SN aren't "right" for each other..that's the gist, but his post lays it out in more hard core tech terms.
